Amazon FAST Channel is a new interactive shopping channel available on Prime Video. Here are the key points:

What You Need to Know About The New Amazon Fast Channel

The channel aims to blend social shopping with streaming TV, making it easier for viewers to discover and purchase products while watching content.

We recently sat down with Wayne Purboo, Vice President of Amazon Shopping Video, to discuss the evolving landscape of video commerce on Amazon. He shared interesting insights on Amazon’s Fast Channel…

“We’ve taken the best Amazon Live streams and put them on our Fast channel to give consumers an additional way to shop on their television. For many folks, shopping is recreational, and this is just another way for them to do that. We know that 30 percent of people are shopping on their phones while watching TV, and we want to make that easier.

From my point of view, I want to help customers go from inspiration to conversion and reduce that gap. We’ve built the Fast channel as a first step in helping customers be inspired by what they watch on television but also being able to purchase if they want to.

One of the biggest things I wanted to do was get rid of the carousel on the TV. I want the experience to be about the brand and the creator. On our Fast channel, there’s no carousel on the screen. It’s all done through your mobile device. When you’ve logged in on your TV and on your mobile device, they’re in sync. So when you’re shopping, you’re seeing the actual products that are being presented on your television.”

How Does The Freevee Phase-Out Impact Amazon FAST Channel?

Amazon is phasing out its free streaming service Freevee (November 2024), with all its content moving to Prime Video where it will remain available to non-Prime members under a new “Watch for Free” label, marking a consolidation of Amazon’s streaming services.

The Freevee live FAST channels were rebranded as “Amazon Prime Video Channels on Fire TV”. Amazon maintains “a library of FAST Channels” as part of Prime Video’s broader offerings. FAST Channels will continue to be accessible to non-Prime members on Prime Video after Freevee’s phase-out.
